BALTIMORE, MD – Amazon is giving Maryland grocers an extra incentive to stock Whole Foods stores by extending discounts to Amazon Prime members on register and Prime Now delivery starting Wednesday, June 27, the company announced Monday. The sales program offers an additional 10 percent off special discounts on select items each week at all Whole Foods markets and Whole Foods Market 365 in the United States.
The move to extend the special discount to all stores nationwide is part of the online retailer’s goal to lower the price of the expensive organic stores it bought for $13.7 million a year ago. The application for the reduction program, announced on June 11, was received earlier this month in 10 states, including North Carolina, Georgia, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington.
Some of the savings include $2 off organic peaches, $6 off wild salmon and $5 off baby pork ribs, Amazon said.

To access the savings, shoppers can download the Whole Foods Market app and sign in to their Amazon account, then scan the code at checkout. Alternatively, customers can use their mobile number to save at checkout. Register here
The discount program, which first rolled out at Whole Foods stores in Florida earlier this year, joins other programs that have recently been launched. Amazon and Whole Foods have launched free two-hour grocery delivery through Prime Now in 10 cities and plan to expand the service to other U.S. locations this year. Eligible Prime members earn 5 percent back on Whole Foods Market purchases when they use their Visa Prime Rewards Card.
“Customer response has been very positive – in fact, Prime members are taking this benefit at the fastest rate we’ve seen,” Sam Siboy, vice president of Amazon Prime, said in a press release. “Since launching this launch in mid-May, Prime members have already saved millions of dollars on everything from seasonal favorites to popular items.”

In addition to savings for Prime members, Prime Now grocery delivery is available in Baltimore, Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Richmond, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco and Virginia Beach. Prime Now offers two free hours on orders over $35. Whole Foods Market distribution will continue to expand throughout 2018, the retailer said.
