South Bank Centre Food Market – The Southbank Center has announced its reopening, with the return of the Hayward Gallery and the launch of its fine food market.

We may be leading the charge with the news that the Southbank Center is open, but as always here at Secret London, we’re going belly up first. Now we can spend a lazy weekend walking through the amazing food stalls and have something delicious to roll by the river.

In fact, the Southbank Center Food Market is a must for London foodies; Tucked away between Southbank Center and Belvedere Road, you can tuck into food from a wide range of countries. Aside from a brief appearance in December, April 30th is the first time the market has been open to explore since last fall, and we have a long bucket list to go when we get there!

There is more good news for the rest of the attractions of the Southbank Center, of which the food market is the first to return. Next to open its doors to visitors is the Hayward Gallery, which opens on May 19. Toilets, including toilets, are open to ticket holders on Level 2 of the Royal Festival Hall and at events on the Riverside Terrace.

Located on Level 1 of the Royal Festival Hall, our coat is accessible by stairs or platform lifts from the square doors of the Southbank Centre. Each Royal Festival Hall opens 60 minutes before the start of a performance and closes 15 minutes after the end of the performance.

The fee is 1 pound per item, which must be collected on the day of collection. Items left here are at the owner’s risk and we cannot accept any responsibility for loss or damage to items left in the laundry for any reason.

There may be short lines to enter the building and the hall. If you can’t get in line or need extra help, our visitor assistants are here to help.

To access the Royal Festival Hall level, please take the external lift located near the artists’ entrance on Southbank Center Square, Belvedere Road, on level 2, and go through the Riverside Terrace. All floors are accessible from the main foyer.

Blue badge holders and those with access requirements can be dropped off on the Queen Elizabeth Hall Slip Road (between the Royal Festival Hall and the Hayward Gallery) off Belvedere Road.

The Indians Next Door

Four Blue Badge car parks are available for visitors on Queen Elizabeth Hall Slip Road. Spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and are free to use. You must show your blue badge when entering the site. Vehicles not displaying blue badges will be refused entry.

Optional parking for Blue Badge holders visiting the Southbank Center is available in the National Theater car park (330 metres). When you visit the Hayward Gallery, simply take your badge and parking ticket to the ticket office in the gallery foyer before exiting.

Please note: There is no pass-free entry from the car park when the National Theater is closed on Sundays.

Alternative parking is also available at Southbank Car Park – APCOA Cornwall Road Car Park for Blue Badge holders visiting Southbank Centre. Before leaving, go to the parking office at the entrance to the car park to validate your badge and parking ticket.

A drop-off point has been created in the Royal Festival Hall (30m) for visitors who could not walk from the alternative car parks.

There is a wide variety of restaurants and cafes to enjoy on our website as well as in the Southbank Center Food Market. All are hidden in the food market at the back of the Royal Festival Hall, which on Friday, Saturday and Sunday offers you a vast market full of colorful stalls, stalls and walkers.

If you’re looking for any of the cultural treats you’ll find on the river, this trip will treat you to a three-course feast. Light bites come in the form of Portuguese custard tarts à Galeta.
